Rockbuster-Stealth
Overview
This project aims to assist Rockbuster Stealth LLC in launching an online video rental service to compete with streaming services. As a data analyst, the objective is to load Rockbuster's data into an RDBMS and use SQL for analysis to provide insights for the company's 2020 strategy.
Context
Rockbuster seeks data-driven strategies to transition to online rentals amidst competition from streaming giants. Hired by the BI department, the goal is to provide actionable insights for various departments, aiding decision-making and strategy development.
Identify top and bottom revenue-generating movies-
Determine the average rental duration
Analyze customer and sales distribution by country
Identify high lifetime value customers' locations
Assess regional sales variation for resource allocation
Data
ERD stands for Rockbuster's snowflake database.
In this project, I access data frames through PostgresSQL, clean the data, and use Subquery, CTE, etc. to find answers to complex business questions with Tableau visualizations.
Key Analysis
The top 5 (out of 109) countries take 34% of sales, Top10 countries take 52 % of sales - and 4% countries take 32% of sales, Focus on these countries
In the streaming service market, Prime Video has the largest film library (6,985) But, some major services like Disney+, and Huhu have around 1,000 titles like Rockbuster, and Discovery+ and Apple TV+ have much fewer than Rockbuster.
Each film was rented 15times on average, and earn $64 on average. Top sale record movie was Telegraph Voyage, $215.75by 25 times rental. The most sales recorded were between $20and $40(31%) Top 10takes 3%of sales (Top 206%, Top 308%) / 42 films out of 1,000 were not rented.
Revenue aren't generated by a specific set of movies; rather, they are evenly distributed overall. In other words, expanding the film library is what contributes to an increase in revenue.
